Explorations:

Tuesday: What is a ramp? What do you think will happen when you place different objects (toy vehicles, blocks, rocks, plastic eggs, small wooden balls) on a wooden ramp propped up on unit blocks?  Which objects will roll down, slide, or fall off the ramp?  Make a chart to record your findings!

Wednesday: Does the height of the ramp affect how far your car travels off your ramp? Let’s find out! Set up different height ramps by propping them up on different numbers of unit blocks? Which height do you think will make your car travel the farthest? Use masking tape to mark how far your car travels off each ramp!

Thursday: Does the texture of the ramp affect how fast your car rolls down? Explore different ramps covered with different texture materials (wax paper, bubble wrap, foil)! Make predictions on which texture will make your car go faster and which one will make it slow down?  Roll down your car on each ramp and see what will happen!

Friday: Where do you see ramps? Have you noticed any ramps outside of the church? Why are ramps used in buildings? Let’s go on a walk around our church and see if we can find a ramp? How about the playground? Do we have anything on the playground that looks like a ramp?  Let’s find out!
