A Holy Moment

(This post was written by Ruth Macchia, teacher in our Grasshopper room.)

Throughout our day at Amazing Grace Kids there are special moments.  These precious moments are marked by the children bringing us laughter, offering inquisitive questions and thoughtful responses.  Last week we experienced a profound moment at Meeting Time. We had sung our songs with enthusiasm and were reading our book, What Can I Bring Him?  It is a story with few words, beautiful pictures, and deep longing and meaning as we wait for our Savior’s birth.  The words are from the Christmas song, “In the Deep Midwinter”.  The last words on the final page are “I’ll give Him my Heart.”  After the words were read a thoughtful boy who was sitting next to me responded, “I want to give Jesus my heart!”  And the girl sitting next to him replied with “I do too!!”  So with deep solemnness and respect we all bowed our heads, and prayed for Jesus to come into our hearts.  The stillness in the circle was profound, and the reverence was obvious.  We prayed and thanked Him for coming to the earth to be born as a baby, and for loving us so deeply.  As we opened our eyes, the children were still in the position of bowed heads.  I was moved to tears by the “holy moment” we were experiencing.  Priceless.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,

And the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  Isaiah 9:6-7
