Amazing Grace Parent News

November 3, 2015

Dear Parents,

The weather is beautiful and we have been enjoying our spacious playground these wonderful fall days! Outside today a spontaneous chorus of song drifted over our sandbox as children were digging for “treasures” (sequins) in the sand.  We are thankful for your wonderful children and for the beauty of this time of year.

Here is the Amazing Grace news for this month:

Lunch Box System: If your child is staying for lunch or explorers, please make sure his or her lunch is placed the square white basket labeled “lunches” outside of the Explorer room in the hallway.   Snacks should still go in the classroom snack bins.

Parent Conferences:

Fall conferences are an important time for parents to connect with your children’s teachers and for us to get to know you better.  We would like to hear your goals for your children and will talk about ours for them as well. Teachers will share descriptive reports they have written about your child with you.  Be sure to bring along any questions or concerns.

  • Grasshoppers, Tuesday November 17, no school for Grasshoppers that day.   If your Grasshopper child is in the Explorer program he/she is welcome to come in at noon that day for Explorers.
  • MWF Butterflies, Wednesday, November 18, no school for Butterflies that day.

Each classroom will have a sign up sheet next week with 20 minute slots starting at 7:30 or 8 AM.  If you would like to cooperate with another family by sharing childcare we can schedule your appointments one after the other. Please connect with that family and let your classroom teacher know.

No School —  Wednesday November 11th we will be closed for Veteran’s Day.  We are also closed Wednesday November 25th to Sunday the 29th for Thanksgiving.

Thank you …

… To everyone who helped with Family Farm Day — we had over 160 people come to our playground that day.  This could not have happened without the help of our tireless room parents, Catherine, Tracey, Corinne and Ulli!  Thanks also to the many volunteers who set up and cleaned up, sold food, painted faces, supervised vehicle rides and invited friends to come.  You are a wonderful team.

… To Katie McClure and Joy Danison who have been setting up our playground every morning.  Thank you very much!

… To Holly Hsu for doing fish shopping for the Grasshoppers, and Lindsay Hardy for taking photos of our Grasshopper class.

… To the Grey family for sharing their red pickup truck with our curious Butterflies.

Volunteers needed:

  • I am looking for one or two adults to help with keeping our school library organized.  There is a system in place but we need help with re-shelving the books — maybe 20 minutes every two weeks or so.  Please see me if you are interested.
  • I am also looking for one or two parents from each class who would like to take on the planning for parent coffees which we postponed in October.  Again, see me if you are interested.

We are thankful for each of you, our wonderful families!
